Republican nominee Donald Trump had been reaching out to supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders, reminding them that Hillary Clinton has taken thousands of dollars from Wall Street bankers, conspired to rig the primary against Sanders – a claim confirmed by a WikiLeaks dump of private DNC emails – and is “crooked,” regarding, among other things, what FBI Director James Comey called her “reckless disregard” of handling classified material on a private email server. One very popular chant among attendees at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last week was “Lock her up!” in reference to the crowd’s belief that Clinton should have faced criminal charges for her email scandal. Supporters of Sanders may not agree with Trump or Republicans on much, but many of them apparently do share the opinion that the presumptive Democrat nominee belongs in handcuffs.
This mentality was on full display during an interview on MSNBC Sunday night in Philadelphia – home of the 2016 Democrat National Convention – with Hillary Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon. While the interview was taking place, supporters of Sanders began yelling the same refrain heard so often at the RNC in Cleveland last week: “Lock her up!”
MSNBC host Steve Kornacki was conducting the interview at Independence Hall when a group of upset Democrats arrived and began the chants.

“You can hear the Bernie people behind us here,” Kornacki said, prompting cheers and loud chants of “Bernie! Bernie!” followed by “Lock her up!”
The Wall Street Journal reported these chants were common on the streets of Philadelphia all day Sunday along with “Hillary For Prison” and “Bernie or Bust” signs.
