Seattle Seahawks land 6-time Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall
The Seattle Seahawks have signed veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall to a one-year contract, NFL.com and others reported Tuesday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the deal has a maximum value of $2 million if Marshall reaches incentives.
Marshall, 34, posted three images of himself wearing a “12th Man” jersey Tuesday on Instagram.
“Let’s Go,” he said in one caption. “Always wanted to play in front of these fans,” Marshall said in another.
The 6-foot-5, 232-pound Marshall will compliment faster and smaller Seattle wideouts Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett and give quarterback Russell Wilson a big end zone target to replace tight end Jimmy Graham, who signed with the Packers in March.
Marshall played in only five games for the Giants last year before suffering a season-ending ankle fracture. New York released him in April.
The Seahawks will be the sixth NFL team for the six-time Pro Bowler.

Marshall was selected by the Broncos in fourth round of the 2006 draft out of the University of Central Florida. He spent four years in Denver, catching 327 passes for 4,019 yards and 25 touchdowns, most of them from Jay Cutler. In a 2009 game against the Colts, Marshall set an NFL record with 21 receptions for 200 yards and two scores.
He was traded to the Dolphins in 2010 and had two strong years in Miami before being dealt again, this time to Chicago, where he was reunited with Cutler. Marshall made the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons with the Bears and turned in a career year in 2012 with 118 catches for 1,508 yards and 11 TDs.
During the 2015 NFL draft, Chicago traded Marshall yet again, this time to the New York Jets. He had a stellar debut season with a career-high 14 touchdown passes, but his performance declined in 2016 and he was released after the season.
The Giants signed Marshall to a two-year, $12 million deal in 2017, but his ankle injury was one of many problems in New York’s disastrous 3-13 season.
Heading into the 2018 season, he ranks 16th all time in career receptions with 959 and is just 23 catches behind Hall of Famer Randy Moss.
Remarkably, Marshall has never appeared in an NFL playoff game. Given his age, Seattle might be his last opportunity.
Unfortunately for him, the rebuilding Seahawks are facing a difficult road to the postseason in the tough NFC West.
