Sister Spots Wreckage in Ravine While Searching for Brother Who Has Been Missing 2 Days
Family is so important. There’s nothing most of us wouldn’t do to ensure the safety and well-being of those we love.
What could have become a tragedy in Idaho Falls was turned on its head when a determined sister remained hopeful she’d find her missing brother alive.
Twenty-one-year-old Joe Rightmire had been missing for 48 hours, Daily Mail reported. He was last seen by his friends on Saturday, August 4.
Rightmire had been at a local fire, but he never made it home. He was reported missing and those close to the young man used social media to search for him, according to the Daily Mail.
But there was one person who took it upon herself to look for Rightmire outside of the digital realm.
Tasha Goforth, Rightmire’s sister, decided to search for her brother. It’s thanks to Goforth that he was discovered at the bottom of a ravine.
911 was called. Unfortunately, cell phone service was not ideal in that location. Idaho Falls Fire Department revealed the man was found about a half mile away from Canyon Road, just southeast of Idaho Falls.
Rightmire had been driving his white pick up truck. When he crashed, the 21-year-old was partially thrown from the vehicle.
But he couldn’t get help because he was pinned to the ground by the truck’s weight. If his sister hadn’t found him, it’s probably safe to say the man may not have survived.
Although he had been injured and alone for two days, it was reported that Rightmire was conscious and able to speak with the rescue crew.
Thanks to the efforts of Goforth, along with the Idaho Falls Fire Department and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Rightmire was rescued, stabilized, and life flighted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
According to the Idaho Falls Fire Department, the rescue proved difficult because of the location and weight of the truck.
Fortunately, they were able to inflate special airbags beneath the vehicle to lift it. The truck was then towed by a broom truck.
There have been no statements released by Rightmire or his friends and family at this time. No doubt he’s grateful for his dedicated sister after experiencing such an ordeal. Our prayers are with him.
