The well-chronicled strain of flu that has hit America hard this year appears to have impacted the NFL’s biggest game of the year.

After being tabbed to sing the national anthem prior to Super Bowl LII, pop singer Pink has officially fallen victim to influenza.

In an Instagram post, Pink revealed the news.

“Trying to practice the flu away,” Pink wrote on her Instagram.

She reiterated just how much this opportunity meant to her.

“I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come,” she wrote.

Pink also revealed on social media that she blamed two children for her getting sick.

“And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough into my mouth and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear!” Pink wrote.

“I’ve arrived at another one of my dreams, which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare,” Pink said.

And it’s reportedly worse than she’s letting on, per TMZ Sports.

TMZ was told that Pink’s Thursday rehearsal was rough, and she struggled to get through it.

Worse yet, insiders who attended the rehearsal were reportedly worried about her ability to perform.

Friday wasn’t much better for the pop singer.

During her pre-Super Bowl concert in Minneapolis, Pink struggled to get through her songs.

She reportedly had to frequently lean on her backup singers as well as the audience to sing much of her songs.

Pink also cut off one of her more vocally strenuous songs, telling the audience, “I can’t do it. I hate this … I can’t do that song. I’m sorry.”

While she may try to gut through the performance prior to the Super Bowl, the prospects don’t look great.

The flu is hitting Americans particularly hard this year, and requires a few days of rest at minimum. Pink’s had a few days since getting sick, but it hardly sounds like she’s resting.
