The Indiana primary will undoubtedly be make-or-break for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz if he hopes to keep front-runner Donald Trump from winning the 1,237 delegates that would give Trump the GOP presidential nomination. On Monday, while campaigning in the Hoosier State, Cruz confronted some Trump supporters who had posted up on the side of the road. He hoped to change their minds and in the process earn their votes.
“We don’t want you,” one supporter declared. “You asked (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich to drop out, now it’s your turn.”
“Lyin’ Ted!” other supporters yelled over and over again.

The Texas senator engaged masterfully with his opposition and remained calm throughout the process. He brought up Trump’s past relationships with establishment Democrats such as Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
“So you like rich people who buy politicians?” Cruz fired back to an increasingly rowdy crowd.

Even though some unfair insults were being hurled at him, Cruz championed his own record on defending the Second Amendment and stood proudly by his endorsement from Gun Owners of America. He tried to convey that if Trump were in charge of selecting a Supreme Court nominee, the billionaire would chose a liberal, and the individual’s right to bear arms would be taken away. The lead protester remained unimpressed.
“Sir, with all due respect, Donald Trump is deceiving you,” Cruz said. “He is playing you for a chump. … In America, we are nation that is better than anger and insults and cursing and rage, and I believe the people of Indiana have common sense and good judgment — they want real solutions.”
Having realized the attempt was futile, Cruz then thanked the gentlemen for their time and walked away.
