Military veteran Tyler Truitt is preparing to fight the country that he defended and put his life on the line for.
The veteran, who lives in Huntsville, Ala., was told that if he or his girlfriend returned to his home, he would be arrested for trespassing.
Truitt, who has his home on two acres, has set up solar panels and a rain collection system for his residence. He lives completely independent of city utilities; however, the city said that his home is condemned and unsafe due to lack of city-run utilities. The city also said that his home is a trailer and not allowed within city limits.

Truitt said: “There comes a point where you have to stand up for what you believe in.” He plans on backing up his words, too. The city is in the process of suing him; however, he does not plan on leaving. He said that if arrested, he would come back day after day.
The city stated that his self-sufficient lifestyle is unsafe, and that living off the grid breaches city ordinance. Truitt had this to say in response to their accusations: “Give people the most liberty and personal freedom that you can afford to give them without infringing on other people’s rights. I just don’t see how we are hurting people by being here.”
Truitt stated: “I took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution and the freedoms that that entailed, and I figure, I feel that those are really being trampled on.”
