Donald Trump is doubling down on his promise to secure the borders, a day after all but securing the Republican nomination for president.
Trump joined MSNBC’s Morning Joe in a telephone interview and discussed his future plans. Co-host Willie Geist asked Trump, “You’ve said some things … that maybe you don’t believe. Do you still believe that Muslims should be banned…?”
Trump seemed to immediately switch into campaign mode using the same terms he’s used in the past. “We have to be very vigilant…,” Trump said.

Being pressed on the matter of banning Muslims, Trump said, “We have to be extremely careful. Yes, we have to find out what the hell is going on. There’s no doubt about that.”
When asked if he felt like making those statements would hurt him in the general election, Trump replied, “I don’t care if it hurts me. I’m doing the right thing when I do this. And whether it’s Muslim or whether it’s something else, I mean, I have to do the right thing, and that’s the way I’ve been guided.”
Trump pointed to his sense of ethics and incidents taking place in Europe as sufficient evidence to take action on the matter.

“I’ve been guided by common sense, by what’s right,” Trump said. “And you see what’s happening (in Europe). We have to be careful. I mean, we’re allowing thousands of people to come into our country, thousands and thousands of people being placed all over the country that frankly nobody knows who they are. They don’t have documentation in many cases — in most cases. And we don’t know what we’re doing.”
Trump spoke to the gravity of the situation of terrorists possibly infiltrating the United States.
“This could be a very serious problem for the future,” he said. Again pointing to Europe as case in point, the billionaire-turned-politician vowed, “I’m not going to let that happen to the United States.”
Trump’s thoughts on terrorist infiltrators coming into the United States may not be as far fetched as some critics might choose to believe. Judicial Watch just released last week details indicating sources confirmed ISIS is working with Mexican drug cartels to smuggle terrorists across the border near Juarez, Mexico.
