Trump Eviscerates Liberals' Gun Control Narrative With Epic History Lesson

Share

In the wake of every major mass shooting, the Democrats demand gun control legislation be the dominant media narrative.

They don’t mention what that legislation would actually entail — mostly because what they would propose would either a) not work, b) violate the Constitution or c) both — but they demand it anyway.

The Parkland high school shooting was, sadly, no different. Former President Barack Obama even led the charge, calling for amorphous “change.”

“We are grieving with Parkland. But we are not powerless,” Obama tweeted. “Caring for our kids is our first job. And until we can honestly say that we’re doing enough to keep them safe from harm, including long overdue, common-sense gun safety laws that most Americans want, then we have to change.”

He was far from alone, with several other major Democrats tweeting demands for gun control without any real proposals. False statistics were also popular, with several using grossly inflated numbers from the gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety.

It didn’t take long, however, for President Donald Trump to offer them a history lesson. Just like the illegal immigration issue, Democrats had a chance to take action during the Obama administration, but did nothing.

“Just like they don’t want to solve the DACA problem, why didn’t the Democrats pass gun control legislation when they had both the House & Senate during the Obama Administration,” Trump tweeted Saturday.

“Because they didn’t want to, and now they just talk!”

It’s worth noting Trump was actually being charitable to the Democrats. Not only did they control both houses of Congress between 2009 and 2011, they held a supermajority of 60 seats in the Senate. That meant that they could kill any filibuster on gun control legislation if they wanted to.

Do you think that gun control is the proper way to respond to school shootings?
And what major gun control legislation was passed?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Instead, after every major shooting, the Democrats demand we look at gun control. Not morality, not parenting, not violence on TV and video games — gun control. However, they do so with the knowledge that nothing will actually be done about it, because all they would propose would be ineffective, unpopular and likely unconstitutional.

In the meantime, they continue to insist that if they were given the chance, things would be different.

They were given the chance. Nothing changed and nothing was done.

And Trump’s Twitter post made sure that America knows it.
