The race for the White House between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton continues to heat up.
And while Clinton leads Trump in the majority of polling, the Los Angeles Times’ daily general election poll has the two candidates within one point of one another.
In fact, according to the poll’s Monday results, Trump has an extremely narrow lead over the former secretary of state, leading 44 percent to 43.6 percent. At one point in the poll, each candidate had a commanding lead over one another, but over the last week, the poll’s results have been mixed.

However, there’s no doubt Trump’s standing in the polls continues to progress.
According to the RealClearPolitics national average of general election polling, Clinton leads Trump overall by an average of six percentage points. While the margin is fairly wide considering there is just a little more than two months before the November elections, the gap has decreased over the last several weeks.
On Aug. 10, Clinton led Trump by an average of 7.9 points, 47.8 percent to 39.9 percent. As of Monday, Clinton is averaging 48.4 percent of support to Trump’s 42.3 percent — a lead of slightly more than six points.

And while Trump struggled through the majority of August, the campaign is finding new life.
The campaign announced on Monday they had bought $10 million worth of valuable ad space in nine important battleground states. The ad buy is the largest of the Trump campaign to date.
Still, they are far behind the Clinton campaign in terms of ad space. To date, the Clinton team has spent more than $77 million on TV and radio ads.
Trump is also going on the offensive against Clinton. Amid controversy over Clinton’s health, Trump challenged the former first lady on Sunday to release her “detailed medical records.”

The tweet came after Trump’s own medical records came under scrutiny last week.
The physician who released a note in December detailing a glowing assessment of Trump’s health admitted to NBC News last Friday that he wrote the note in five minutes as a limo waited and tried to imitate Trump’s rhetorical speaking voice.
