Despite numerous suggestions to the contrary following what many analysts have called his roughest week in the polls, Republican nominee Donald Trump insists he will not change his temperament or strategy.
Appearing Tuesday on Fox Business Network, Trump said, “I think that my temperament has gotten me here. I’ve always had a good temperament and it’s gotten me here. We beat a lot of people in the primaries and now we have one person left, and we’re actually doing pretty well there, but we’ll see how it all comes out.”
Trump’s poll numbers have trended downward over the past week after a war of words with Khizr Khan — the father of a soldier who died in Iraq — made a speech criticizing him at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. He also upset members of his own party by initially refusing to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sens. John McCain and Kelly Ayotte in primary races. Trump eventually did endorse all three, but his poll numbers and momentum continued in a negative direction.

Fox Business Network anchor Maria Bartiromo asked Trump what his campaign needs to do to get things going in the right direction, but the businessman insisted nothing was wrong and change was not necessary.
“I certainly don’t think it’s appropriate to start changing all of a sudden when you’ve been winning,” Trump said. “I mean I’ve beaten many people, and now we’re down to one. And we’ll see how it all works out, but I think it’s going to work out well,” he said.

But Trump reminds people he became the party’s nominee by bucking the Republican establishment.
“This is the way I won in the primaries. I mean, I won the primaries by fighting all of these insiders,” Trump said.
