An Indiana man used booby traps to enact retribution on a woman who tried to steal a pro-Donald Trump from his lawn.
The man — who wished to be identified only as Phillip — said his sign had been targeted for theft and vandalism twice in the past month, with the first attempt happening just days after the sign was placed on the lawn.
“I looked out my front door and the sign was lying about four feet over, and it was crumpled up pretty good,” he said.

However, knowing how controversial the GOP presidential nominee is, Phillip anticipated this might happen and set up a system to stop the sign from outright being stolen.
He secured it in place with fishing wire and string spray-painted green.

Phillip set up a camera after the first attempted theft, which caught the second attempted thief trying to take the sign.
The attempt was ultimately unsuccessful because of the booby trap Phillip had set up, which caused the woman trying to steal the sign to fall flat on her face.

“She loses her footing, lost her grip, and she went flying,” he says in describing the woman’s actions caught on video.
For his part, Phillip says he doesn’t care who anybody supports or doesn’t support just as long as people learn to show respect for the property of others.
“Whether it’s a Bernie [Sanders] or Hillary [Clinton] or a Trump sign, you might disagree with whatever the politics are, but it’s not yours,” he said. “Leave it alone.”
Phillip is hardly the first person to have his pro-Trump signs stolen or vandalized, as there have been numerous other occurrences reported across the country.

One such occurrence involved a Massachusetts man named Arthur Gonsalves, who placed a black box next to his sign that said “Danger.”
Gonsalves’ stunt stopped people from messing with his Trump sign, but it also resulted in a visit from the bomb squad, who were alerted to the presence of the supposedly dangerous black box.
Gonsalves said this was not the first time he had to deal with vandals and thieves in response to a yard sign, saying similar things happened in the 1980s when he put up pro-Ronald Reagan signs.
