On Monday the FBI reported threats of a mass shooting leveled at a Chicago college but details were scarce. Now more details have become available, and what the would-be killer planned to do is shocking.
As Breitbart News reported, an African American electrical engineering student named Jabari R. Dean was the man arrested by federal authorities for his threats on social media to kill white people in retaliation for the death of a 17-year-old black teenager who was killed by a Chicago police officer last year.
The FBI said that the 21-year-old student threatened to go to the Hyde Park campus of the University of Chicago and kill 16 white people and then himself.

Dean reportedly threatened to “execute…16 white male students or staff, which is the same number of time (sic) Mcdonald (sic) was killed. I then will die killing any number of white policemen that I can in the process. This is not a joke. I am to do my part to rid the world of the white devils.”
“Dean’s alleged message,” Breitbart wrote, “was referring to the police-involved shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, an incident that has sparked nearly a week of protests in the Windy City after last week’s release of police dashcam video depicting the teen’s final minutes of life before the shooting.”
While Dean’s threats were shocking, authorities say he didn’t have the weapons to follow through on his threats.

By Monday, the suspect’s family was saying that what Dean did was “stupid” but that he never had any real intent to carry out his threats.
In fact, Dean deleted his threat not long after he posted it but it was too late as others had seen it and reported it.
The threat was posted on Saturday and by Sunday evening the university had canceled classes for Monday. The school also increased security throughout the school in order to make sure students and employees were safe.
