Waiter Heroically Jumps onto Overturned Van To Rescue 2 Police Officers Trapped Inside

Share

It’s fairly common to read stories of policemen saving the lives of citizens, but it’s not every day you hear a story about a citizen saving the lives of multiple police officers.

Twenty-four-year-old waiter Riyad El-Hassani helped save two police officers from their overturned vehicle in Limehouse, London, on Saturday, June 2.

What started as a normal day changed after a car accident involving a police van happened outside El-Hassani’s home.

A group of people started to gather around the accident and shouted, “Hero, you’re needed again.”

El-Hassani wasted no time as he ran out, climbed on top of the van and assessed the situation that was before him.

“They looked in shock and one had a badly injured arm,” said the waiter. “I took one officer’s seat belt off because he could not manage it and I lifted him out before getting the second officer out.”

El-Hassani said that he was concerned about the vehicle catching on fire and moved quickly to get the officers out of harm’s way.

This is not the first time the waiter has acted as a hero. In April, he helped former Eurotunnel chairman Sir Robert Malpas after Malpas was attacked and left lying on the tracks.

“As I approached the Tube line I could hear panicking, screaming and running,” El-Hassani said. “I thought it was a terrorist attack. As I ran, I saw an elderly man in the middle of the underground track.”

Once again, El-Hassani acted quickly as he saw the train coming and jumped onto the tracks. He threw Malpas on the platform “like a sack of potatoes” and was able to jump out at the last moment.

“I ran to get out and it stopped another five metres further along. The man was bleeding a lot, there was blood coming from his face,” the waiter said.

“I started screaming for napkins, towels, anything that would help and people gave me tissues and all sorts of things to stop the bleeding. It felt like 15 minutes later that the emergency services and the police came.”

After saving the lives of multiple people, this brave man is being called a hero, and he deserves it.

He has never hesitated to run into the face of danger to help save the lives of others, even when he thought there was a terrorist attack or a possibility that a car could burst into flames. This young man truly is a hero.
