Many drivers have seen horrifying accidents, some right in front of their eyes. But what some Tennessee drivers witnessed while driving on Highway 385 over the weekend just may have them on their knees come Sunday.
Witnesses watched helplessly as the driver of a Jeep was sideswiped by another vehicle; he was subsequently run off the road and slammed his Jeep into a steel pole. “Cause once he hit that pole, (the Jeep) just went up in flames,” one witness said. Another witness said everybody who stopped to help grabbed whatever they could from their cars; “we’ve got to get this man out this car,” she said.
Desperate to free the man from the car, one man described trying to pour water on the man in an attempt to keep him from being burned. A fire extinguisher was needed, but no one had one. Finally, one man was able to bust open the man’s window using a jack iron, allowing for extrication–but the man was pinned to his seat by the steering wheel.

Fortunately, the bystanders turned rescuers were eventually able to release the man from the burning wreck. The unidentified man was sent to a local hospital, yet was not in critical condition.
Video taken at the scene of the accident reveals how hot and devastating the fire was. Yet one object survived the fire, the man’s Bible. While the vehicle was burned beyond recognition, hardly a scratch was found on the Bible, which was found sitting on the passenger seat.

One eyewitness to the crash, the fire, the rescue, and the Bible’s survival declared, “That is God. And if you don’t believe, I don’t know what to say.”
