It’s something that has sparked speculation for years, stirring the passions of true-believer liberals eager to see another term or two for an Obama in the White House. That “something” is the prospect of Michelle Obama running for president.
While Mrs. Obama has repeatedly said she’s not heading in that direction, one can’t help but remember that her husband’s promises during his years in high office haven’t been all that reliable. And then there’s the media’s unrestrained enthusiasm for another Obama presidency, especially in light of former First Lady Hillary Clinton’s current candidacy. In a recent posting on The Root, writer Mary Curtis praised Michelle Obama as one who “would start out with loads of goodwill” if she were to follow in Hillary’s political footsteps.
“With approval ratings that have always surpassed her husband’s, and ovations over everything from her Let’s Move! campaign to her Tonight Show dance-offs with host Jimmy Fallon, Obama’s image is one to envy and emulate.”

The possibility of a Michelle candidacy was even raised Thursday night when the first lady sat down with David Letterman, who is soon retiring from his late night TV gig. After Mrs. Obama laughed about the suggestion of a run for the office her husband now holds, Letterman quipped, “That’s something to consider.”
The pair then went on to joke about how the first lady could help the comedian raise his children. There was no suggestion, however, that Michelle Obama would dictate what they would have to eat.
