Western Journal has reported on the security issues facing Cologne, Germany, specifically the behavior of migrants. The town has doubled its security forces from last year to a total of 2,500 police officers, but the efforts do not appear to be working.
Highlighting concerns for women, a news reporter, while covering this year’s Carnival celebration, was allegedly groped by two men. Esmeralda Labye, a Belgian reporter, was covering the annual event on live TV when one man seen behind her was mimicking a sex act. Later, the reporter accused the men of grabbing her breasts and groping her.
According to the Daily Mail, Labye said, “Then a hand landed on my breast. I was shocked … My [report] was chaotic, people showing middle fingers, a man who was having fun miming a sex act behind me and above all the hand placed on my breast.”

The mass migration of refugees from the Middle East is being blamed for an unprecedented surge in rapes of German women. In Cologne, on New Year’s Eve, a gang of a reported 1000 migrant men raped and pillaged the streets, resulting in dozens of sexual assaults and at least one rape being reported to police.
So far, the Carnival celebration’s crime rate has doubled over last year’s numbers. Over the last two days, 181 arrests have been made, with 18 sexual assaults being reported on the first night.
The mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, has warned the festival-goers about security issues at this year’s carnival. Pamela Geller says that Reker is part of the problem because she apparently blamed the sexual assault and rape victims of the New Years celebration for not keeping a safe distance away from others. Reker also proposed a controversial code of conduct for the carnival.
