Injured Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz will not be leading his team in the NFL playoffs this year.

Much to the chagrin of Eagles fans, Wentz suffered a torn ACL in a Week 14 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Wentz, now in full-on recovery and recuperation mode, has found himself with more free time than he probably knows what to do with.

One way that he probably fills that time is by hunting.

A quick look through his social media accounts finds numerous videos and pictures showcasing his love of the sport.

So it should come as little surprise that Wentz would celebrate the birthday of his oldest golden retriever, Henley, with a hunting photo.

The photo was mostly well-received. Wentz’s Twitter followers either commented about how adorable Henley is or offered Wentz their own personal ACLs so he could play for the Eagles in the postseason.

But peppered throughout the responses were a litany of negative replies.

One follower offered a more diplomatic response to Wentz’s photo.

Wentz, finally fed up with some of the critical remarks, offered the perfect response to those who called his love of hunting “offensive” and “controversial.”

“Two of the main things I tweet about are Jesus and hunting. That’s what I’m passionate about and that won’t ever change! When you love something, you talk about it! Stay convicted about it and don’t worry what others think!” he tweeted.

It was a succinct and appropriate response.

Why should Wentz be apologetic about the things he loves, whether it’s Jesus or his hunting?

From all indications, the Eagles quarterback is an admirable young man who has endeared himself to one of the tougher and more jaded fan bases in all of sports.

There may be things to criticize about Wentz. His passion for Jesus and for hunting are certainly not among them.
