Cowboys make move to 'feed Zeke' with draft pick, Elliott lets fans know what's coming
Friday was a monumental day for the city of Dallas for a variety of reasons.
The day started off with the news that Cowboys legend Jason Witten plans on retiring to slide into the “Monday Night Football” booth next season.
Then the second and third rounds of the NFL draft took place at AT&T Stadium, and they were filled with first-class troll jobs by the NFC East rivals of Dallas.
The Cowboys had two picks on Day 2 of the draft, and the first was used on a local product, offensive guard Connor Williams of Texas.
Williams hails from Coppell, a suburb that’s just 20 miles north of AT&T Stadium, and he was seen as a first-round talent. He slipped to the 50th overall pick and was ecstatic to be chosen by his hometown team.

Someone else who was thrilled with the selection was Ezekiel Elliott, as much of his success is reliant on the big boys up front.
Elliott was the NFL rushing champion in 2016 and averaged 5.1 yards per carry. With his suspension in 2017 he wasn’t able to repeat as the rushing king, and his efficiency dropped as well as Zeke put up just 4.1 yards per carry.
He tweeted that he’s counting on Williams to solidify the O-line and help him reclaim his rushing title.

The Cowboys believe that Williams, a consensus All-American in 2016, has talent on par with the Pro Bowlers along the Cowboys line: left tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martin.
Williams should be an immediate upgrade at the left guard position. He will replace Jonathan Cooper, who started 13 games at the position last year but departed for the 49ers this offseason.
The Cowboys also had another pick during Day 2 and they used that selection on wide receiver Michael Gallup of Colorado State.
He will attempt to help fill the void created by the release of Dez Bryant. Gallup was a finalist last year for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s most outstanding receiver.
Coach Jason Garrett raved about Gallup’s ability, and it sounds like the Cowboys’ newest receiver possesses many of the same traits as their recently departed star.
“There’s a lot to like about him,” Garrett said via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s big, he’s athletic, he plays the game the right way. He’s been a productive player for [Colorado State], doing a lot of different kinds of things.”
The Cowboys has seven more picks during Day 3 of the draft.
