Duke Sensation Zion Williamson Throws Down Two Insane Dunks En Route to Giant Win

Share

Zion Williamson came to Duke University this fall as one of the top high school prospects in the country with a reputation for making spectacular dunks.

Just three games into his first — and probably only — year in college basketball, the 6-foot-7 Duke forward has not disappointed.

In Duke’s 84-46 blowout win over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Williamson put on a show, throwing down a handful of dunks that got the home crowd into a frenzy.

One was a left-handed tomahawk-style dunk in the first five minutes of the game.

Another was a spectacular two-handed slam off an alley-oop from fellow freshman Cam Reddish.

Williamson was eye level with the rim on this one.

He had a few more, too.

Williamson led the Blue Devils with 21 points and nine rebounds. Through three games he’s averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds per game.

He’s also been a rim protector on defense. In Duke’s 94-72 win over Army, he blocked six shots, including this one he swatted out of bounds.

After the Eastern Michigan game, Williamson was talking defense, not dunks.

Do you think Williamson's game will translate to the NBA?

“It’s always great because I feel like our offense will be there, so now it’s just playing hard defense,” Williamson said, reported The Raleigh News & Observer. “We feel like our defense will lead our offense. We feel like this was a much better effort (than against Army).”

It probably won’t look so easy once Duke gets into the meat of its schedule, but the Blue Devils did rout a quality opponent in Kentucky in their first game 118-84.

So far, Williamson has not given anyone any reason not to believe the hype.
