Ex-NFL Player Turned Harvard Neurosurgeon Accused of Sexual Harassment

Share

Lost in the shocking news that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is facing solicitation of prostitution charges is another person with NFL ties being accused of wrongdoing that is sexual in nature.

This time it’s a former NFL player in Myron Rolle, who is now a Harvard neurosurgeon.

Rolle has been accused of sexual harassment by actress and singer Amanda Seales.

During a radio interview and later on her podcast, Seales said she received disturbing direct messages on social media from an unnamed person.

She later revealed that person to be Rolle on her Instagram story.

“I really don’t take it lightly what I’m about to say, because when you name names, you know, you not only put that person out there but you put yourself out there,” she said in the post. “But, I feel as a woman who makes it my business to be a warrior for the truth, that it needs to be said.

“I, on my podcast and on ‘The Breakfast Club’ spoke about an individual who had approached me on the internet and who we spoke on the phone, and they said some troubling things in the conversation that made me take a step back. And that also, with literally no investigation, it was brought to my attention that he had sexually harassed a woman by opening the door when she came to meet him for a date butt naked, and then telling her that she was the one who was overreacting. … I heard that one story and was just like, ‘Whoa, that’s crazy.’

“When I spoke about him on my podcast and on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ I didn’t say his name. I literally just said a couple of characteristics about him, and it has been shocking and incredibly discomforting to me how many women — eight, as of tonight — that have come forward to say his name — they knew exactly who he was — to say his name and that he had been incredibly problematic and behaved in a very sexually predatorial way with them that some have said could have gotten him fired.

“So I say all that to say, if you are approached by Myron Rolle, you should just be mindful.”

Rolle, who played safety for the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers, immediately responded to the accusations on his own Instagram account.

Rolle described the accusations as “absolutely false” and called them “acts of bullying, intimidation and retaliation.”

The former Florida State star said he would “not sit idly by and allow someone to engage in intentional character assassination simply because I did not return their advances or wish to engage in a relationship as they may have wanted.”

Do you think Myron Rolle is innocent?

“Accusations of sexual harassment should be taken seriously, but the same should be said for false accusations against someone and the impact those accusations can have in today’s digital world,” he wrote. “I thank you all for your support and for allowing me the opportunity to stand up for myself and against any actions of bullying, intimidation and retaliation.”

Seales has yet to publicly respond to Rolle’s statement.

Rolle began his Harvard medical residency in 2017 after graduating from FSU’s College of Medicine earlier that year.

He was a safety for three years in the NFL from 2010 to 2012. In 2013, he decided to enroll in medical school at his alma mater.

While in college, Rolle was a Rhodes Scholar, and his interview for the scholarship came on the same day as the Seminoles’ 2008 game against Maryland.

The NCAA allowed Rolle to take a chartered plane from his interview in Alabama to Maryland so he could attend both. Rolle was awarded his scholarship just hours before FSU defeated the Terrapins 37-3.
