Ex-NFL All-Pro Convicted in Domestic Violence Case, Manages To Avoid Jail Time
Former All-Pro linebacker Aldon Smith was convicted on two misdemeanor counts stemming from a domestic violence arrest this past March.
Smith, 29, pleaded no contest Monday to two counts — violating a court order and false imprisonment, reported TMZ Sports.
He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, but he will not serve jail time as he got credit for time served for the days he already spent in jail and for his stint in an alcohol-treatment facility.
The former San Francisco 49er and Oakland Raider also was sentenced to three years probation, one year of domestic violence counseling and 25 hours of community service, TMZ reported.

Smith was arrested in March after he fled the scene of a location in San Francisco where officers had responded to a domestic violence complaint.
The victim suffered “non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police. The victim, Smith’s former fiancee, told authorities Smith bit her wrists and climbed out of her window.
Smith immediately checked himself into rehab after the incident. The victim said Smith called her parents and asked them to take him to rehab.
At that time he was arrested on four misdemeanor charges — domestic violence, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism.
About two weeks after that incident, Smith was arrested again for violating a restraining order.
At the hearing this week, the victim said, “I may never be the same,” but she also wished Smith luck in getting sober, reported TMZ.

“The victim in this case showed incredible resolve,” San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon told TMZ Sports. “If you are a victim of domestic violence, my office’s Victim Services Division is here to help.”
Smith has a long history of trouble with the law. In 2012, while with the 49ers, he was arrested for DUI. Later that year he was arrested for possession of an assault rifle. He was arrested again in 2015 for DUI, which led to the 49ers cutting him.
He signed with the Raiders in 2015 but played only one season in Oakland. He was suspended for one year by the NFL stemming from the 2015 DUI arrest.
Smith, who was named first-team All-Pro in 2012, applied for reinstatement after the 2016 season but was denied.
The Raiders cut him on March 5 after his domestic violence arrest.
