Fans of certain MLB teams can get free Chick-fil-A on Opening Day

Share

After a long winter, regular season baseball is once again upon us.

Opening Day is Thursday, and even Miami Marlins fans will see their team in first place, at least for a short while.

To help celebrate the occasion, Chick-fil-A restaurants will be giving away free food to baseball fans.

Of course, the food is only free on one condition — fans must show up dressed in their team’s gear.

In Baltimore, fans who come into the restaurant from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday wearing an Orioles shirt, hat or jersey will get a free chicken sandwich.

Forty-one area stores are taking part in that promotion, and “customers are encouraged to share photos on social media enjoying their sandwich using #OsDayChickfilA,” WMAR reported.

The Orioles open their season against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday afternoon at Camden Yards.

Meanwhile, 16 Chik-fil-A restaurants in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area were set to give away a free original chicken sandwich with the purchase of a beverage between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Fans needed only to dress in Reds gear to qualify for the deal, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Are you excited for Opening Day?

The Reds were supposed to play their home opener against the Nations on Thursday, but the game was postponed due to weather. It’s unclear whether the promotion will now be moved to Friday.

Of course, not every team opens their season at home.

That’s why, in some cities, Chick-fil-A is offering free food on whatever day teams actually do open their home schedule.

In Cleveland, Akron and Canton, fans who sport Indians gear on April 6 will get a free chicken sandwich from 10:30 a.m. 8 p.m.

The Indians will take on the Kansas City Royals that afternoon.

Finally, participating Pittsburgh-area Chick-fil-A restaurants are also giving away a free sandwich — this time on April 2, when the Pirates play the Twins in their home opener.

To be eligible, fans must wear Pirates apparel.

Aside from wearing team gear, all the promotions share one thing in common — each customer is limited to receiving one free sandwich.
