First NFL team tells ex-Cowboys star Dez Bryant 'no' - report

Share

Ever since the Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Dez Bryant, NFL fans have been waiting to see where the former Pro Bowler will end up.

Bryant has indicated he’d like to join one of the Cowboys’ NFC East rivals, thus giving him the opportunity to face off against his old teammates twice a year.

As an as-of-yet unsigned free agent who’s 29 years old and coming off a down year, though, Bryant may have to settle for whichever team decides it’s worth taking a shot on him.

And now, at least, it appears as though we know of one team that won’t be taking the plunge.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New Orleans Saints are not going to match wideout Willie Snead’s offer sheet with the Baltimore Ravens, meaning that Snead is going to be a Raven.

Because they acquired Snead, the Ravens, who “showed some initial interest” in Bryant, no longer have any reason to sign the ex-Cowboy, Schefter said.

So what organization does want Bryant on their team? At this point, it’s unclear, though various players have publicly lobbied for him to come to their respective cities.

Do you think Dez Bryant can regain his Pro-Bowl form with a new team?

Bryant himself might be most interested in teaming up with Odell Bekham Jr. on the New York Giants. When 247 Sports‘ Mike Fisher asked him recently about the possibility of signing with New York, Bryant indicated that it would be “crazy” to play with quarterback Eli Manning and company.

“The Giants,” he said, “got a helluva defense, they’re going to pay (Beckham), so coming back. Playing with him, Sterling (Shepard) … the tight end (Evan Engram), Manning? Crazy.”

And last week, Bryant just added more fuel to these rumors when he posted a video to Instagram in which he could be seen working out with Beckham.

Though teams haven’t publicly said they want to sign Bryant, the wide receiver himself claimed he’s gotten offers from “Super Bowl contenders.”

“I have offers from Super Bowl contenders. All of this grinding is for me…it’s time to focus on myself everything else is blocked out right now,” he responded to an Instagram user recently, according to Cleveland.com.
