Jay Gruden's Son, Redskins Assistant, Arrested and Charged
Jack Gruden, the son of Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, was arrested Sunday morning on a charge of public drunkenness.
Gruden, 22, works on the Redskins coaching staff as a video assistant, according to the Redskins website.
According to ESPN, the police report states that Gruden was arrested at 2:15 a.m. Sunday “after a series of confrontations in a popular restaurant and bar district in Ashburn, Virginia.”
Ashburn is only minutes away from the Redskins’ training facility.

A police officer broke up a confrontation between Gruden and another man, according to the ESPN report.
A Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman told The Washington Post that after police separated the first argument, Gruden got into two more arguments a few minutes later.
Gruden was arrested after the third argument — after Gruden told police he was going home, CBS Sports reported.
He has a hearing scheduled for March 21.
Team officials released a statement of the situation.
“We are aware of the arrest of Jack Gruden. We are gathering more information and will not comment until we have further details,” team spokesman Tony Wyllie said in a statement.

As a video assistant, Gruden is responsible for filming and editing all of the Redskins’ games and practices, among other duties.
He just completed his first season as a full-time member of the coaching staff after volunteering the previous year.

The Redskins endured a difficult ending to a once-promising season in 2018.
They led the NFC East through nine games with a record of 6-3, but then they lost six of their last seven games to miss the playoffs and finish at 7-9.

The losing streak coincided with the loss of starting quarterback Alex Smith to a gruesome leg injury in week 10 against the Texans.
The injury could keep him on the sidelines for the 2019 season.
