NBA Team Now Offering $100 Monthly Passes That Don't Include View of Court

Share

The Golden State Warriors are the hottest ticket in the NBA. Seats are expensive and very hard to come by.

But how bad do locked out fans want to be a part of the action at Oracle Arena?

The team’s front office is hoping fans will be desperate enough to pay for the privilege of just getting into the building — without a seat.

Yes, the team sent an email to its fans on Monday with a new offer — an “In The Building Pass,”  according to ESPN.

As the name implies, the pass simply gets a fan into the arena, and nothing more. It doesn’t include a seat or any view of the court.

For $100 a month, fans get to attend every home game played that month, but can only watch the game on TV in the bars, restaurants or club areas in the arena.

The passes are limited to four per fan, but they must be connected to a name, which means you can’t give one to your friend unless his name is on it.

Would you pay $100 a month for this type of pass?

The team is only selling 200 of these passes each month, team spokesperson Lisa Goodwin told ESPN.

They will automatically renew each month until April. They are not available for the playoffs.

It may be the first time that any professional sports team in the U.S. has offered a pass with such restrictions.

A number of teams have offered standing-room-only tickets to their games, some of which have obstructed views of the action.

In addition, a number of MLB teams have started selling monthly passes with access to every game in a given month, but usually only offer seats in the highest reaches of the various ballparks.
