NFL Veteran Identifies the 'Ultimate Form of Racism,' and People Kneeling for the Anthem Won't Like it

While many NFL players are staging national anthem protests focused on racial inequality, one league veteran sees the issue from a very different angle.

New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson made a powerful statement last year when he was with the Baltimore Ravens:

“Abortion is the leading cause of death among black Americans and the ultimate form of racism.”

Watson pointed to Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s views on race and eugenics, saying in an interview, “I do know that blacks kind of represent a large portion of the abortions, and I do know that honestly the whole idea with Planned Parenthood and Sanger in the past was to exterminate blacks. And it’s kind of ironic that it’s working.”

There have been 1.46 billion abortions worldwide since 1980.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black women have “the highest abortion rate (27.0 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44 years) and ratio (420 abortions per 1,000 live births).”

Imagine how many of those innocent lives never had the chance to become the next Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson or Serena Williams. Or one of those aborted babies could have grown up to cure cancer.

Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy quickly took Watson’s side, applauding his courage in “speaking the truth.”

In a post co-authored by Watson and Brian Fisher, co-founder and president of Human Coalition, the topic of abortion and race is covered in depth.

The article includes startling statistics:

• “Abortion disproportionately affects African Americans who account for approximately 12.6% of the U.S. population, but roughly 35% of all abortions.”

• “Out of all Planned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities, 79% are located in or within walking distance of minority communities.”

• “There were 285 African Americans killed in police-related incidents in America during 2015. However, more blacks are killed every day in America by abortion.”

As expected, Dungy received a tsunami of backlash for his tweet. Instead of ignoring the critics, he chose to defend his stance.

Dungy did not shy away from the backlash as he has been known for his outspoken Christian values.

Watson too is a devout Christian, and he spoke at this year’s March for Life rally in Washington.

In 2015, he wrote “Under Our Skin,” a book about healing racial divisions in America.
