Share

Three players from the world champion Boston Red Sox were named to the American League’s Gold Glove team on Sunday.

Right fielder Mookie Betts won for the third straight year, while center fielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. won his first Gold Glove. Second baseman Ian Kinsler, who came over from the Angels in a trade-deadline deal, won his second.

In the National League, the Atlanta Braves led the way with three Gold Glove winners — first baseman Freddie Freeman, who shared the award with the Cubs Anthony Rizzo; center fielder Ender Inciarte; and right fielder Nick Markakis. It was Freeman’s first win, while Inciarte and Markakis have won three times each.

The Royals placed two players on the AL’s Gold Glove team, including catcher Salvador Perez, who won for the fifth time, and left fielder Alex Gordon, now a six-time winner.

Oakland also had two Gold Glove winners, first baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Matt Chapman. It was the first win for both players.

Houston pitcher Dallas Keuchel won his fourth Gold Glove award, while Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons was also honored with his fourth Gold Glove award.

Along with the three Braves, two Colorado Rockies won the Gold Glove award, including third baseman Nolan Arenado, who won for the sixth time in six years. Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu won for the third time.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke won his fifth straight Gold Glove award, while his teammate, shortstop Nick Ahmed, won his first.

Finally, St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina won his ninth Gold Glove award behind the plate, while Pittsburgh left fielder Corey Dickerson won his first.

The 36-year-old Molina still has a few more to go to catch Ivan Rodriguez with the most Gold Gloves ever by a catcher (13), but with one more he will tie the great Johnny Bench with 10.
