Reuben Foster's ex changes story: admits in court she lied to cops about abuse
The domestic violence case against San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster took a bizarre turn in court on Thursday.
The woman who had accused the second-year 49ers player of domestic abuse testified that she lied to police about the alleged abuse, according to The Sacramento Bee.
Under questioning from Joshua Bentley, Foster’s attorney, she also admitted she stole money and jewelry from Foster’s home.
“You knew in this case when Reuben Foster broke up with you that you were going to go to your playbook and ruin his career. Isn’t that true?” Bentley asked Foster’s accuser, Elissa Ennis.
“Yes, sir,” a tearful Ennis responded.

She confessed that she tried to bring false charges against another ex-boyfriend after he broke up with her in 2011.
“I wanted him to go down. I was p—-d. … It was all a money scheme,” Ennis said of why she falsely accused Foster. “I didn’t want it to get this far in the news. It was about money.”
She also admitted to stealing more than $8,000 in cash and jewelry from him.
Foster, 24, the 31st pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Alabama, was arrested in February on suspicion of domestic violence and possession of an assault weapon.
In April, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office charged Foster with domestic violence, inflicting great bodily injury and forcefully trying to prevent a victim from reporting a crime — all felonies.
He was also charged with possession of a high-capacity weapon magazine, a misdemeanor. Foster pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
“The victim told responding sheriff’s deputies and Los Gatos police that Foster dragged her by her hair, physically threw her out of the house, and punched her in the head 8 to 10 times,” according to an April 12 news release from the district attorney’s office.
Ennis suffered a ruptured eardrum and bruises, injuries she claimed were a result of the incident, the report stated.
But in court Thursday, Ennis testified that her injuries came from a fight she got into with another woman stemming from a road rage incident.

She was apparently cut off by another car and got into a fight with the driver, which is how she got the injuries.
Judge Nona Klippen will review the evidence and testimony and decide next week whether to move forward with a jury trial, The Bee reported.
