Tim Tebow Heads to Atlanta During Super Bowl Weekend for Something Much More Important Than a Game - Report
In a vastly different world, there’s a chance that Tim Tebow could’ve been playing in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday.
Tebow had a cup of coffee with the New England Patriots in 2013, so that’s not that much of a stretch. And if any young and innovative coach could’ve found a way to utilize Tebow’s skill set, Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay would be atop that list.
Alas, Tebow is not in the NFL anymore.
But that doesn’t mean he’s not in Atlanta for Super Bowl weekend. While he won’t be playing in the big game, Tebow, as he often does, has found a much more important calling.
According to a Patch.com report, Tebow is partnering with The Home Depot Foundation to help renovate a Vietnam veteran’s Atlanta home.
To put it simply, that’s awesome.
Granted, nobody who has paid even the remotest attention to Tebow’s charity and pro-veteran work should be the slightest bit surprised.
That shouldn’t make it any less of an example for all athletes, or anybody else.
As Patch.com reported, Vietnam veteran Alvia Haadee was set to have his longtime Westside Atlanta house refurbished Friday.
Tebow and more than 20 members of Team Depot were slated to work on Haadee’s home, which was in desperate need of repairs.
The refurbishing reportedly was to include “interior repairs, construction of a new mailbox, and landscaping.”
“The foundation has made a $6.3 million commitment over five years to support the redevelopment of Atlanta’s historic Westside community,” Patch.com reported. “In addition, Haadee’s house refresh is part of The Home Depot’s ongoing efforts to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Giving back to veterans is personal to The Home Depot, as more than 35,000 of the company’s associates have served in the military.”
The Home Depot has its headquarters in Atlanta.
It’s worth noting that Tebow is finding the time to help a random Vietnam veteran when he’s juggling a dozen other things at once.
Tebow’ has a movie coming out, a television show to host and a burgeoning baseball career on his plate.
Oh, and there’s the small matter of having to plan his wedding.
Nobody would blame the guy for focusing on any number of things he has going on at the moment. Instead, Tebow took what little free time he likely has to help make a lasting impression on a Vietnam veteran.
Good for him.
