Tim Tebow Made a Gesture So Incredible That an Opposing Team Had To Thank Him
Tim Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy-winning Florida quarterback who now plays professional baseball, made a kind gesture over the weekend that had even the other team praising him.
Tebow, who plays left field for the Syracuse Mets (the New York Mets’ Triple-A affiliate) had a reunion with one of his fans on Sunday, WHDH reported.
The meeting occurred at McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, where the two Triple-A clubs played a three-game series this weekend.
Tebow met with Zack McLeod, a Massachusetts native who suffered severe head trauma playing high school football in 2008. As a result of the injury, McLeod is both mentally and physically handicapped, according to Cru.
The Pawtucket Red Sox Twitter page posted video of the reunion and thanked Tebow.
“Yesterday the PawSox reunited Zack McLeod with one of his heroes, @TimTebow, Outfielder for the @SyracuseMets,” the team wrote on Monday.
“Zack suffered a brain injury in a high school football game in 2008, and first met Tim in 2012 after the @Broncos played the @Patriots. Thank you @tebowfoundation!”

As the team noted, McLeod first met Tebow in January 2012, when Tebow was the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos were facing the New England Patriots in nearby Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the AFC divisional round game.
McLeod got the invite and the opportunity to meet Tebow thanks to the Tim Tebow Foundation, as KCNC reported at the time.
Each week, the foundation would invite a Broncos fan to watch Tebow play, in addition to paying that fan’s expenses, regardless of whether or not the Broncos were at home or on the road.
McLeod was a huge Tebow fan and his favorite team was the Broncos, so the then-20-year-old got the invite.
According to WHDH, the two were able to meet again when Tebow came to Pawtucket because McLeod’s family is friends with an employee of the Triple-A club.
It’s not at all surprising to see Tebow, a devout Christian athlete, giving back to fans, especially a fan who’s gone through such trauma.
Wherever he goes, Tebow seems to keep a positive attitude and garner an even larger fan base in the process.
