Watch: Homecoming Queen Wins Football Game in Overtime

Share

Young women hanging with the boys and doing impressive things in football games is hardly an uncommon occurrence at the high school level these days.

But Kaylee Foster of Ocean Springs High School in Mississippi pulled off a feat so impressive that it stands out even by “awesome football girl” standards.

See, Foster isn’t just a kicker with an Adam Vinatieri-like nose for glory with the game on the line.

She’s also her school’s homecoming queen, and got her crown at halftime of the game, WLOX-TV in Biloxi reported.

And if you think that’s impressive, just wait until you hear what happens next.

Foster had already stamped her signature on the game at the half, having accounted for the only points from either team.

She kicked another field goal in the second half, and the game went into overtime tied at 6.

The Greyhounds’ opponent, George County, took a 12-6 lead in OT, scoring a touchdown but missing the extra point.

Ocean Springs got the ball and scored a touchdown of its own. Foster took the field with a chance to give the Greyhounds the victory with a PAT.

Her aim was true and her kicking clutch, and Ocean Springs won 13-12.

Foster accounted for seven of her team’s 13 points in the victory.

One of the commenters on the tweet above used the hashtag “#QueenOfTheField” to describe Foster, and truer words were never crammed into 15 characters and shoehorned in front of a tic-tac-toe board.

The celebration didn’t last too long. On Saturday morning, Foster was in the classroom taking the ACT as part of the college admissions process.

She planned to be at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night, having traded football cleats for high heels, a uniform for a dress and a helmet for a crown.

Foster’s team ran its record to 2-2 with the win, and Ocean Springs now gets to look forward to a game in Brett Favre’s hometown of Kiln, Mississippi, against Hancock High next Friday night.

But for now, Kaylee Foster gets to enjoy one of the best weekends of her young life.
