Watch: HS Player Pulls Off Wild Spiderman Interception

Share

The most acrobatic catch of this football season didn’t take place in the NFL or even in college football.

It happened on a high school field in the Dallas area Friday as Jeffery “Scooby” Carter of Mansfield Legacy High School pulled off an interception you need to see to believe.

Carter, a cornerback, clearly didn’t fear the receiver he was covering as he was playing the ball more than the man.

But that enabled him to get a great read on the pass by the quarterback of Mansfield Timberview. Carter managed to flip his hips while jumping to put him in a position to make a jaw-dropping one-handed grab for the pick.

He continued his midair twist and looked like Spiderman on both the catch and the landing. Since he had his back to the quarterback when the ball was released, turned all the way around and landed with his back on the ground, Carter pulled off something like a 540 during the course of the play.

Carter also plays wide receiver for Mansfield Legacy, and you can see why.

Here’s another view of the interception from the press box.

Mansfield Legacy won the game 27-22 to improve to 2-3 on the season.

Carter is a four-star prospect in the Class of 2019 and is ranked as the No. 11 cornerback in the nation. He has verbally committed to Texas A&M, and if he follows through he will be a part of Jimbo Fisher’s first Aggies recruiting class.

Is this the most amazing interception you have ever seen?

Texas A&M has a stacked incoming recruiting class and Carter is just one piece of it. Fisher discussed the 2019 class on National Signing Day and said the group will produce some high NFL draft picks.

“We’ll end up being one or two,” Fisher told CBS Sports in February. “I’m talking about 10 guys that are right (there). I’m talking about first-, second-round draft pick guys. There’s some phenomenal players.”

That was before Carter even committed.

On Tuesday evening, five-star receiver Jadon Haselwood decommitted from Georgia ahead of his visit Friday with the Miami Hurricanes. That move knocked the Bulldogs from the top recruiting class and put Texas A&M in the No. 1 spot.

Carter has only verbally committed to A&M so he could change his mind as Haselwood did, but the star cornerback seems to be in lockstep with Fisher and has no problem with the video that went viral last week of Fisher grabbing his player’s facemask.

Carter retweeted that reply from Dylan Wright, a fellow commit to Texas A&M.
