Weeks After Beth Chapman's Death, Son of 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Reportedly Hospitalized

Share

On June 26, Beth Chapman of A&E’s “Dog the Bounty Hunter” passed away at age 51 after a two-year fight with throat cancer.

The loss of a loved one, no matter how expected or sudden, is always devastating. Fans of the beloved star were heartbroken by the news, sending their prayers and well wishes to Beth’s family.

Beth’s husband, 66-year-old Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman, has had little time to process the tragedy.

Just a few weeks after Beth’s passing, Duane’s son was hospitalized. Leland Chapman, 42, sustained a serious injury during filming for a new television show.

According to The Blast, Duane and his son were tracking fugitive Edward Morales in Adams County, Colorado, on Tuesday. Morales was accused of domestic violence, harassment and failure to appear in court.

Fox News reports that the manhunt was being filmed for “Dog’s Most Wanted,” which is set to premiere soon on WGN America.

As the hunt wound to a close, Leland was one of the first to apprehend Morales. As Leland attempted to subdue the suspect, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, according to Fox News.

Unable to walk, Leland was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Meanwhile, officers detained and arrested Morales. The fugitive was taken to Adams County Jail in Colorado.

A spokesperson told AL.com that Leland will need surgery to recover from the injury. He will likely be in the hospital for six weeks as he heals.

Although it is unclear if Leland will be able to attend his stepmother’s memorial service on July 13, his fans and loved ones can rest easy knowing he is expected to recover.

Beth’s memorial service will take place in her home state of Colorado and will be live-streamed for fans to watch.

Duane assured the public following his wife’s passing that the Chapman family isn’t seeking monetary donations. Instead, he hopes everyone will focus on happy memories of his wife and the faith she often spoke about.

“I hope to God there’s a God. I hope I’m not just talking to myself. And if there is I’m going to see my Beth again,” he told Hawaii News Now.
