Wife Photographs Husband's Reaction to Learning News of Baby Number Three
As a husband, there’s something incredibly special in the way that your wife lets you know that a new member of the family is on the way. To announce one pregnancy, my wife served me baby-back ribs, baby corn and baby peas.
For another, she gave me coffee and chocolate, saying, “I think you’re going to need these.” They were incredibly sweet ways to break the best sort of news.
One mommy blogger from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, came up with a creative way to announce her pregnancy to her husband, according to the Daily Mail.
Bethany Rose, a 31-year-old mother of two — and soon-to-be mom of three — runs the website Waves & Lilacs. Designed to find “value in the ordinary days of motherhood and being a modern day housewife,” it shares Rose’s special gloss on everyday activities.
One of the best had to be how she announced to her husband, Jake, that their children, Hadley and Emmett, would soon welcome another sibling. It started with a letterboard that bore a simple message.

It read, “I have no idea what this letterboard says. We’re having another baby!”
Next, Rose roused Jake straight from bed and asked him to hold it while she snapped a picture. The only catch was that he couldn’t look at it.
The good-natured Jake obliged, grinning at the camera, his disheveled hair sticking out every which way. Rose must’ve taken pity on her husband at that point because further pictures showed him with a head of hastily combed locks.
“Since I knew these photos would be posted at some point, I told him to go comb his hair!” she wrote on her blog. But she didn’t ask him to wipe the expression off his face when he flipped the board over.
One snap showed a clueless Jake smiling as he scans the white letters on the black background. In the next, he stared straight into the camera with a look of gobsmacked astonishment.
“Yes, this is actually how I told my husband we were pregnant again. The last 2 times he was right by my side and we both found out together,” Rose wrote.
“Yes, having his reaction saved in a photograph is something I will always cherish.” However, his surprise didn’t last long.
Rose said that Jake immediately set down the board and engulfed her in a hug. She also said that his surprise made the effort “completely worth it.”

The letterboard also came into play in further photos Rose posted on her Instagram account. One read, “14 weeks: I just ate nachos for breakfast & am now questioning all life decisions I’ve made this pregnancy.”
At 20 weeks, she posted a picture showing her slyly sneaking a spoonful of ice cream. The letterboard simply read, “Half baked.”
But despite all the joking, Rose obviously wanted to point to what’s most important in her life: her faith. On her announcement post, she quoted Psalm 127, which reads, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!”
