In what police are calling a psychotic episode which led to homicide, an Uzbekistani Muslim woman has been arrested for decapitating a child who was in her care. The woman, working as a nanny caring for a child with disabilities named “Natasha,” was arrested after police were called to a scene outside a Moscow metro station.
Witnesses called police to report a woman was walking around screaming and carrying a bloody severed head. When police arrived, they found Gyulchehra Bobokulova dressed in a burka, carrying Natasha’s severed head, and shouting “allahu akbar.” She claimed to have explosives and threatened to blow herself up. Police tackled Bobokulova, arrested her, and determined she did not possess explosives.
Witnesses reported, and security camera footage confirmed, the woman was parading the child’s severed head around the streets. She reportedly stated she was “a terrorist” whose own child had been killed and she “hated democracy.”

A journalist, Polina Nikolskaya working for RBC daily, said she heard the woman screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is Great in Arabic). Nikolskaya said, “I was on my way to the metro station from home … She was standing near the metro entrance and caught my attention because she was screaming ‘Allahu Akbar.’ I saw that she had a bloodied head in her arms, but I thought it was not real. People in the crowd said it was real.”
Earlier in the day firemen were called to the child’s residence. No one was injured in the fire, although fire and rescue teams did extricate several individuals from the Moscow flat. While investigating the fire, they found a child’s body whose head had been removed.
It is believed Bobokulova, after she murdered Natasha, set fire to the residence and then left the home. Investigators interrogated the woman who claimed she wanted to draw maximum attention to her actions. When asked about her motivation to kill Natasha, she said she was angry at her own unfaithful husband.

An unnamed source investigating the crime said, “She waited until the parents with the elder child left the flat, then for unknown reason she killed the child, set fire to the apartment and left the scene.” The woman was a legal Russian resident who was an immigrant working illegally as a nanny for 18 months prior to the horrific murder. Police are not treating the incident as an act of terrorism and Russia’s secret service, the FSB, has taken over the investigation.
Natasha’s family is receiving medical care, understandably devastated with what has happened to Natasha, their home, and their family. Natasha’s mother, who works in a wedding business, was transported to the hospital reportedly “unconscious,” apparently in shock, and devastated by grief.
