Woman Left Laughing After Reading Note Why UPS Driver Couldn't Deliver Her Package

Share

In a world as busy as ours, the miracle of package delivery makes life so much easier. Dangerously easy. With the click of a button, you can have pretty much anything delivered to your front door within 48 hours.

Despite the miracle, it’s still annoying when something you’ve been waiting for gets held up in one way or another, and you get one of those notices stuck to your door informing you that your package is elsewhere.

Generally that happens when the delivery man or woman can’t find a safe spot for a pricey item or needs a signature but you’re not home.

Marcy Lanier experienced a very different incident that made her package “undeliverable.” A resident of Asheville, North Carolina, she was used to getting packages dropped off on her front porch.

She was also used to certain large animals wandering across her property: Bears were a common sight in the area.

Apparently the sight surprised the person trying to make the delivery, and he (or she) left a note in Lanier’s mailbox (which is posted along the street) explaining why the package hadn’t been dropped off in its usual spot.

“Bear in driveway” was the straightforward description scrawled in ink (and probably while the writer kept an eye on the large mammal).

Lanier thought the situation was amusing and warranted sharing, so she posted a photo of the slip along with a short description: “Like I say. Only in Asheville!:)”

“So there was a bear in the driveway, so he couldn’t drop it off on my front porch,” she explained during an interview with WLOS. “He normally drops my packages on my front porch.”

“So that’s how it happened,” explaining how the note got to her without being posted on her front door. “He could stay safe in his truck, on the road.”

The simple image has been a hit, with over 6,000 shares and making it to several news stations.

“Marcy at willows dream hair salon and gift store in downtown Asheville NC would like to thank you for helping this go (viral),” Lanier posted in a follow-up on Sunday. “In these crazy times it’s awesome to find your giggle again !!!! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!!”
