Following a recent court ruling, the city/state of Berlin will hold new elections in early 2023. The court ruled that the election of September, 2021, was so deeply flawed and bungled that new elections are necessary. The 2021 state election was plagued by insufficient numbers of voting ballots and urns, voting that at some locations meant queueing for hours and voting at some locations that continued beyond the 6 p.m. cutoff.
