67-Year-Old Pastor Takes Prom Photos with Granddaughter After Finding Out She Doesn’t Have a Date

Many little girls dream of the day they finally get to dress up in a beautiful gown and dance the night away. Prom night can be magical, but the pressure to have a date can take some of that joy away.

To be honest, I wish my prom photos included my friends or family rather than the date I took. I do remember that my feet hurt in those drastic high heels. I don’t remember the guy’s last name.

One young woman will undoubtedly have much sweeter memories of her prom night because of the gentleman she posed with.

Seventeen-year-old Kaylah Bell didn’t have a date to her Lancaster High School prom in California. According to WOFL, the teen had some prospects but they “flaked out.”

Bell didn’t sweat going solo, though. Rather than worry about who’d be by her side that night, she made the most of it and even turned her photo session into a sweet family memory.

And that’s where Bell’s “papa” — Alvin Hackett — stepped in. “I asked by grandpa to take my pictures because he is the flyest guy I know!” Bell told Fox. “He has a great sense of style!”

Style runs in the family, too. Bell’s custom design was inspired by Mary, Queen of Scots.

“My family is very flashy,” Bell shared with Daily Mail, “and the dress just wasn’t flashy enough, so my auntie told me to add the diamond belt and add the cape.”

She certainly looks stunning. Though her “papa” wasn’t able to attend the prom with his granddaughter due to an age limit, he did get dressed up to match her, giving her a prom night send-off in style.

“My grandpa is very stylish,” Bell told Yahoo! Lifestyle, noting that the 67-year-old pastor looks up to Steve Harvey when it comes to fashion inspiration.

“The matching suit and corsage was all his idea,” Bell added. “I felt blessed. A lot of people don’t get to have opportunities like this. For my grandpa to be happy and eager to do it was amazing to me. I felt extremely loved.”

She is loved, indeed. The photos Bell shared on Facebook and Twitter are everything. Even if Pastor Hackett wasn’t able to attend the dance, these photos are worth a thousand words and more.

Liftable, a section of The Western Journal, reached out to Kaylah Bell for further comment, but did not receive a response. Here’s to Miss Bell and her “papa” — wishing them so many more memories together in the years ahead.
