Democratic Senator Chris Murphy Hospitalized After Suffering Stroke
Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy was hospitalized on Saturday after he reportedly suffered a stroke at his son’s hockey game.
“Yesterday afternoon, Senator Murphy started experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son’s hockey game,” his office announced in a statement published Sunday. “He was taken to a local hospital, where it was discovered he had experienced a stroke.”
“He was transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring and is responding well to treatment,” the statement continued. “The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery.”
Murphy’s stroke shocked both his supporters and his critics on account of his being only 53 years old, which is considered young for stroke victims.
This is genuinely scary – only 53 years old. Wishing @ChrisMurphyCT a full and fast recovery.

Megyn Kelly, a conservative commentator who’s frequently criticized the lawmaker, described his hospitalization as “scary” in a social media post.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who served in the first Trump administration, wrote a social media post praying for his recovery.
“Susan and I are praying for you,” he wrote, referencing his wife. “May the Lord grace you with a speedy and full recovery. We’ve worked together on intelligence matters and you have always been direct and diligent and decent. Praying that you will be back at it soon.”
Although Murphy isn’t up for reelection this season, he’s been “crisscrossing the country campaigning for Democratic candidates, with recent stops in Michigan, Minnesota, and Florida,” according to CNBC.
In fact, Murphy was reportedly supposed to campaign in New Hampshire on Sunday on behalf of Democratic Senate nominee Chris Pappas.
Thinking of my great friend & colleague, Chris Murphy. I know how fiercely he fights & I’m certain I’ll be welcoming him back to the Senate soon.

Murphy’s stroke comes four years after Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman experienced an especially crippling stroke just days before his Democratic primary battle.
“Like so many others, and so many men, in particular, I avoided going to the doctor, even though I knew I didn’t feel well,” Fetterman said in a statement following his stroke, as reported by NBC News.
“As a result, I almost died.”
Despite the seriousness of his stroke, Fetterman largely managed to make a recovery. In a social media post published on Sunday, the Democratic senator wished Murphy the same.
I’ve just heard the news about Senator Murphy.
As someone who survived a near-fatal stroke, I understand all too well how much this impacts your life.
My family is rooting for Chris and his family for a full and speedy recovery.

Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff also wished Murphy well.
“Chris Murphy is among the most brilliant and hard-working Senators I’ve ever met,” he wrote in a social media post. “I’m sending him my prayers for his full and speedy recovery.”
“I am encouraged to hear his positive prognosis, and I join the entire Senate in keeping him and his family in our thoughts today,” the lawmaker added.
Meanwhile, former New York Times investigative reporter Alex Berenson suggested in a social media post that Murphy’s stroke was the result of all the COVID “jabs” he has received.
So @ChrisMurphyCT got at least four mRNA jabs, got Covid at least twice, and just had a stroke at 53
