Breaking: Key Mueller Witness Against Trump Charged with Transporting Child Pornography

Share

Despite the final report from special counsel Robert Mueller making it clear that no Americans associated with then-candidate, now-President Donald Trump ever criminally “colluded, conspired, or coordinated” with the Russian government in 2016, there nevertheless remain many on the left who still hold dear to that narrative.

That has become an increasingly difficult task for Trump critics, made all the more tough today following the arrest and indictment of a key witness in Mueller’s probe related to alleged pre-election collusion on the part of a Trump campaign associate.

The Justice Department announced in a thinly-detailed press release on Monday that a 60-year-old Lebanese-American businessman named George Nader had been arrested at John F. Kennedy airport in New York City.

That arrest followed a sealed indictment first filed in January 2018 after Nader had arrived at Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, while in possession of a cellphone that contained child pornography.

Nader actually pleaded guilty to similar charges in Virginia in 1991. Should he be convicted of the same crime once again, he faces anywhere from a mandatory minimum of 15 years to a maximum of 40 years in federal prison.

The DOJ release made no mention of Nader’s connection to the Mueller investigation, but the Washington Examiner reported that the businessman played a key role as a witness for Mueller whose testimony contradicted that of Trump campaign associate Erik Prince, who is the founder of the Blackwater private security contractor group.

Nader was reported to have served as a sort of connection between associates of Trump and government officials from Russia and other Middle Eastern nations in 2016 and 2017.

Specifically, Nader was said to have helped arrange a January 2017 meeting in Seychelles — a small island off the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean — during which Prince met with a Russian reported to have close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. That meeting was viewed by Trump critics as a potential effort to establish back-channel communications between Russia and the incoming Trump administration.

A Business Insider report from March 2018 provided more details on how Nader’s testimony to Mueller about that meeting directly contradicted Prince’s testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.

Do you think Mueller's case against Trump will continue to fall apart?

Prince had testified that his meeting with the Russian in Seychelles — sanctioned investment fund manager Kirill Dmitriev, who Prince claimed to not know was sanctioned — occurred purely by chance while he was on the island to meet with Emirati business leaders.

Prince further said the Emiratis had introduced him to the Russian, and that their roughly 30-minute long talk was centered around business purposes and a shared desire for the U.S. and Russia to resume normal trade relations.

Nader, on the other hand, reportedly testified to Mueller’s grand jury that the Emiratis had nothing to do with the meeting between Prince and Dmitriev, that the meeting was specifically about U.S.-Russian relations, and that the meeting had been set-up well in advance.

Now, bear in mind that no charges against Prince have stemmed from Mueller’s investigation. Indeed, as previously noted, Mueller’s report made clear that there was no criminal conspiracy, or even “back-channel communications,” between Trump associates and Russians.

Add to that the fact that a key witness alleging as much has now been arrested and indicted for alleged possession of child pornography, a charge he has pled guilty to before. Furthermore, there are reports out of Europe that Nader served time on convictions of sexually abusing minors in the Czech Republic in the mid-2000s … convictions the liberal establishment media chose to ignore in favor of the Russian collusion narrative.

Of course, the fact that Nader was just arrested for alleged possession of child pornography doesn’t necessarily prove that he lied to Mueller’s investigation or the grand jury.

However, it certainly does do damage to the guy’s character and credibility as a key witness in a still-murky meeting that may or may not have meant anything of significance at all.
