Journalist Attacks Trump over Tiger Woods, But Old Obama Photo Shreds His Narrative

Share

One of the byproducts of the left’s instinctive, knee-jerk opposition to all things Donald Trump — which is as hilarious as it is infuriating — is how they routinely criticize the things he does as “extraordinary” or “unprecedented” when in fact his actions are normal things done by prior presidents — particularly the most recent predecessor, former president Barack Obama.

Case in point was the unmitigated outrage launched from the left on Monday against President Trump when he awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom — one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a civilian — to champion golfer Tiger Woods.

One of the more absurd attacks against Trump honoring Woods came from “journalist” Paul Krugman, the Nobel Laureate economist and columnist for the New York Times, who suggested in a tweet that Trump awarding the medal to a mere golfer had somehow cheapened the award and diminished its honorable status.

Krugman tweeted, “I’m old enough to remember when Presidential Medals of Freedom were given for showing courage and making sacrifices on behalf of the nation and the world. Tiger Woods … hits golf balls for money.”

Krugman must not be very old, then, as he was quickly reminded of just how ridiculous and ill-informed his take truly was, given some of the recipients of the award during Obama’s tenure in the White House.

One of the best examples came from conservative writer Stephen Miller, who tweeted two side-by-side photos.

The first photo was a screenshot of Krugman’s tweet, while the second was a screenshot of a tweet from 2014 when Obama awarded the medal to Charlie Stifford, the first black golfer on the PGA Tour.

Miller followed that up with another tweet that included a screenshot of text which revealed that Woods is actually the fourth professional golfer to receive the award.

Woods follows in the footsteps of Stifford and golf legends like Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, who were honored by former President George W. Bush in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

One of the commenters on Miller’s post — who appears to be a decidedly “NeverTrump” conservative — offered up a two-tweet “partial” list of some 35 recipients of the award from Obama, which included quite a few athletes and celebrities.

A quick perusal of the comments on Krugman’s post offered just a glimpse of the education he quickly received about past Presidential Medal of Honor recipients, particularly from the Obama era, with far too many hilarious and informative posts to be included in this space.

Do you love seeing anti-Trump critics proven decisively wrong?

Former firebrand feminist turned independent conservative commentator Tammy Bruce summed it all nicely with a tweet that showed just a few of the actors and athletes upon whom Obama had bestowed the medal.

Bruce wrote, “Everyone is old enough to remember when… you’ve always been a biased #hypocrite.”

It is worth remembering that Krugman is the in-house economics “expert” for the New York Times who so wrongly predicted that the U.S. economy would come crashing down and be mired in another Great Repression following Trump’s victory in 2016.

Krugman was wrong then, just as he is wrong now, and he would be wise to simply keep his mouth shut going forward instead of opening it to confirm what everyone already knows — he is a hypocritical fool.
