Normally 'Civil' Jake Tapper Blows Fuse After Minor Staff Goof, Source Claims

Share

Live by the source, die by the source.

CNN’s Jake Tapper, like most of the anti-Trump media today, has made a righteous name for himself during the Trump administration by citing “White House sources” to report negative stories about President Donald Trump.

But anonymous sources can bite media personalities like Tapper, too, and as a report from the Mediaite website this week shows, they can be just as painful.

The normally liberal Mediaite reported on Wednesday that Tapper – who is well-known for his anti-Trump attitudes – went “bananas” last week after a botched set-up on his “The Lead with Jake Tapper.”

The segment was supposed to be proving that the president’s explanations about his news conference at the July 16 summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin had damaged Trump’s credibility so badly that it’s gone for good.

What a CNN source is saying about Tapper’s behavior, though, is hurting Tapper more than one liberal talk show segment could ever hurt the president.

According to Mediate, the problem arose when Tapper lined up three video clips to be played during his show to illustrate Trump’s performance at Helsinki and its aftermath.

The money clip Tapper wanted was supposed to be one in which Trump accepted findings from the U.S. intelligence community that Russia had meddled in the 2016 election but added that “it could be other people also.”

That was supposed to prove Trump was undermining his own explanation, but when the clip wasn’t played on cue, it just proved Tapper has a temper unsuspected by those who know him only from what they see on screen.

Are you surprised Jake Tapper has a temper like this?

Here’s how Mediate described it — after calling Tapper an “august and civil newsman”:

“During the commercial break, we are told that Tapper went ballistic, berating his staff in front of the entire studio for ‘not reading my emails!’

“Our source described the outburst as ‘unhinged’ and ‘bananas,’ replete with a lot of shouting about the staff’s incompetence.”

(That sounds more like what the liberal media would want the public to believe of President Trump.)

Social media responses were revealing. Naturally, some were supportive of Tapper – he’s a CNN, anti-Trump icon so libs think he can do no wrong – but many nailed CNN for the fake news organization it’s become in recent years.

Of course, live television is a high-pressure environment. And it’s understandable that tempers can flare when things go badly wrong.

But in a time when mainstream media outlets are sucking up any kind of anti-Trump information they can from “White House sources” and making backbiting snitches a major part of their “news gathering” a certain pleasure should be allowed for watching one of the most preening, pompous on-air personalities today being embarrassed by an “anonymous source” going to the media with a work-related grudge.

For the mainstream media, the old saw is true: Live by the source, die by the source.
