Rush Limbaugh Takes On Biden, Plays Decade-Old Audio Clips That Bury Him
After months of speculation, former Vice President Joe Biden finally announced his candidacy for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 2020 and — no doubt with the aid of a compliant mainstream media — immediately received a significant boost in the polls of the prospective nominees.
But at the same time, countless past remarks from Biden and prior positions on various issues have been exposed in such a way as to show that he is most definitely not aligned with the new “woke” progressive socialists who are driving the Democratic Party further to the left.
Indeed, those past remarks and prior positions would — if attributed to any Republican — immediately spell that person’s political doom in the eyes of the newest crop of leftists. If they weren’t so deceitfully hypocritical, they would have already disowned Biden as a candidate, if not expelled him from the party altogether.
That was the general message put forward by conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh last week, and in a play on the left’s latest pastime of tearing down statues of historical figures they disagree with, suggested a statue of Biden would most certainly have to be torn down, or at least ignobly covered with a black sheet.
“(I)f there were a statue of Joe Biden out there, what would leftists do with it?” Limbaugh said. “They would have to demand that it be torn down because of things he said in the past.”
He proceeded to note that Biden at one point opposed to forced busing policies that furthered the integration of the school systems. He also stood strong in defense of traditional marriage — until he was used by the Obama administration as a trial balloon to float the idea of supporting same-sex marriage and gauge the public’s reaction to it as a policy.
“(O)riginally Biden voted for the Defense of Marriage Act and against gay marriage. He opposed desegregation and busing to integrate the schools. He has a long history of harassing women, sniffing their hair and all of that,” Limbaugh said. “I mean, those things alone require a Joe Biden statue to be covered up. Am I wrong? Using the left’s own behavior here against them.”
He further noted Biden’s trouble with Anita Hill during the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and pointed out that Biden had voted to confirm Justice Antonin Scalia. Biden’s 1988 presidential ended amid a plagiarism scandal, Limbaugh said, and he has made a plethora of awkward gaffes over the years.
“Joe Biden voted for the crime bill. He voted for the Iraq war. I mean, if there were a statue of this guy, it would have been taken down already mere hours after his announcement,” Limbaugh said.
After mocking the polls that supposedly showed Biden crushing not only all other Democratic contenders but President Donald Trump as well — recall the polls that predicted an easy Hillary Clinton victory in 2016 — Limbaugh got down to rehashing some of Biden’s dreadful commentary from years past that, if uttered today by a Republican, would likely see that person banished from the public square.
In 2008, Biden said of then-candidate Barack Obama, “A man who will be the next president of the United States, Barack America!”
At least that wasn’t as bad and condescending as what he had said about Obama a year prior in 2007: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
Limbaugh also played the clip of Biden’s tasteless joke in 2006 about immigrants, when he said, “In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”
He also played the clip of Biden’s horrible race-baiting in 2012, when he warned black voters that Republicans Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were “going to put y’all back in chains!”
There was also a recording of Biden saying “God rest her soul” in regard to somebody’s mother who was still alive, as well as the time he urged a wheelchair-bound man to stand up for everyone to see.
Limbaugh said, “Let any one of us say that and we are toast forever! We’re as gone as the next Robert E. Lee statue.”
Later, the conservative host bolstered his case that Biden simply doesn’t fit in with the new breed of Democrat any longer by citing recent remarks from the new left’s socialist dream girl, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said Biden’s candidacy didn’t really “animate” or excite her.
“I can understand why people would be excited by that — this idea that we can go back to the good old days with Obama, with Obama’s vice president,” she said. “There’s an emotional element to that, but I don’t want to go back. I want to go forward.”
Joe Biden represents the past, and as Limbaugh made clear, he has a record of views and comments that are unacceptable to the leftist activists who rule the Democratic Party these days. That doesn’t bode particularly well for his candidacy going forward.
