Secret Service Comes Forward with Incredible Goodbye to Former President George HW Bush
There certainly weren’t any shortages of touching goodbyes to former President George H.W. Bush, who died late Friday at the age of 94.
However, the most moving may have come from the individuals who helped guard him through the vice presidency, presidency and beyond.
In a video posted to Twitter, the U.S. Secret Service paid its final respects to the nation’s 41st president, whose code name was “Timberwolf.”
“The Secret Service sends our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Former President George H.W. Bush,” the Secret Service said in a tweet Saturday morning.
“Timberwolf, you defined patriotism and leadership throughout your life of service to this country and you will be sorely missed.”
The video began with pictures from the former president’s early life — his time as an aviator in the U.S. Navy, a picture of him in his Yale baseball uniform.

However, the video moved on to pictures of his family throughout the years — a reminder of what was most dear to the former president.
It also included a clip from his inaugural address, which described the president’s attitude to life perfectly.
“In our hearts we know what matters. We cannot hope only to leave our children a bigger car, a bigger bank account,” Bush said.
“We must hope to give them a sense of what it means to be a loyal friend, a loving parent, a citizen who leaves his home, his neighborhood and town better than he found it,” Bush said.
“And so, there is much to do; and tomorrow the work begins. I do not mistrust the future. I do not fear what is ahead. For our problems are large, but our heart is larger.
“I see history as a book with many pages, and each day we fill a page with acts of hopefulness and meaning,” the clip continues, as pictures of Bush’s time in the public eye are displayed.
“The new breeze blows, a page turns, the story unfolds. And so today a chapter begins, a small and stately story of unity, diversity, and generosity—shared, and written, together.”
“The Secret Service was privileged to protect George H.W. Bush for 38 years,” it concludes. “Timberwolf, each day was an honor.”
