These Top Dems All Claimed Trump Was Finished After Mueller Finalized His Report - They Were Wrong

Share

Let’s start off with a moment of silence for all the Democrats who are just learning the news that special counsel Robert Mueller won’t be seeking any more indictments.

Mueller announced on Friday that his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections was concluded and that there would be no further indictments.

The sad lack of indictments is probably bumming a lot of Democrats out, what with the way they’ve been building it up for the last couple of years.

Imagine being a kid who’s been waiting for Christmas morning for two years, only to be told that Santa isn’t real. That’s where they’re at right now.

The left has been claiming since Trump was elected that Mueller’s investigation would end the president.

But somehow the conclusion of the investigation has failed to deliver what top Democrats promised.

A great video from Tom Elliott, founder and editor of Grabien, compiles some of the many great assurances from Democrats that Trump would be impeached and behind bars by now.

It’s hilarious.

Take, for instance, Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff.  He was seriously holding onto the belief that Trump would probably be “the first president in quite some time to face the real prospect of jail time.”

Or there was the time commentator Mika Brezinski said she believed that some people — Trump and his team —  would be “going to jail for the rest of their lives.”

This would be pretty extraordinary, considering that jails usually only house convicts for up to a year. (Longer sentences would be served in prison, Ms. Brezinski.)

Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters seemed to minimize the need for an investigation, because she somehow already knew that the president was guilty of impeachable offenses.

“If we do the investigations, the information is there. We’re fiddling while Rome is burning,” Waters said in a video clip. “This president needs to be impeached.”

Is Mueller's investigation a letdown for Democrats?

Why did we even need to investigate? Waters was already sure that the information was there.

The video shows just the smallest fraction of excitement the Democrats had for the Mueller investigation.

It might be a little embarrassing for them in retrospect, but hey — these are also the people who thought Hillary Clinton was going to become president. Foresight has never been their strong suit.
