Report: Obama's FBI Paid Expenses for Anti-Trump Fusion GPS Dossier

Share

Let’s face it. This anti-Trump dossier created by Fusion GPS stinks to high heaven. Now, we’re finding out that the FBI may have had a hand in it — a financial hand, to be precise.

According to Breitbart, the co-founder of the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, Glenn R. Simpson, said in a Senate judiciary testimony, that it “made sense to him” that the FBI reimbursed Christopher Steele for his trip to Rome.

It was in Rome that Steele reportedly “met with an FBI contact to supply the agency with the anti-Trump dossier and other information he found during the course of his anti-Trump work.”

This dossier was the cornerstone for the anti-Trump FBI investigation into his campaign.

In a testimony that was released last week from Aug. 22, Simpson said Steele went to the FBI on his own. He explained that as far as he knew, Fusion GPS didn’t pay for Steele’s trip, but he believes the FBI did.

Simpson was asked during his testimony, “Do you know who paid for Mr. Steele’s trip to Rome to meet with the FBI?”

He replied, “I have read recently that — I think in a letter from Senator Grassley that the FBI reimbursed the expense. But to be clear, I mean, that’s it. He was, to my knowledge, not been (sic) compensated for that work or any other work during this time.”

Referring to a question about whether or not Fusion GPS helped pay for the trip, Simpson said, “I don’t think we did. I have no information that we paid for it.”

“Again, this sort of emphasizes, you know, the point I was making earlier which was this was something that I considered to be something that Chris took on on his own based on his professional obligations and not something that was part of my project.”

Do you think there is deep seated corruption in the DOJ?

Talk about distancing yourself from the guy.

Back in March, citing sources familiar with this matter, even CNN reported that the FBI paid for some of Steele’s expenses for the dossier. CNN reported, “The FBI reimbursed some expenses of the former British intelligence operative who produced a dossier containing allegations of President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, people familiar with the matter said…An official familiar with the discussions said the FBI didn’t hire Steele as an informant, but that the arrangement instead allowed for expenses to be paid. It couldn’t be learned how much he was paid and for how long.”

There is still so much to learn about this dossier, and the more that surfaces, the more we learn just how deep the corruption goes.

Now, even a four page memo has surfaced that some lawmakers say show the FBI used KGB-like tactics in gathering information on the Trump campaign.

Hopefully we can all get to the bottom of this corruption and get the people involved in this criminal activity behind bars.
