Age 6 Boy Sets Up Doughnut Stand in Yard, Patiently Waits for Police Officers To Come
We can always use more good men and women in law enforcement. We need people who have a passion to serve and protect their local communities.
Some officers start young. While other 6-year-olds might care more about Batman than their future careers, this is not the case for Oliver Davis.
This Kansas City boy is already well on his way to becoming Officer of the Year. He’s not falling short in the cuteness department either.
He can often be seen dressed in uniform, donning a pair of aviator sunglasses, and riding his miniature patrol bike.
From delivering roses to senior citizens to patrolling his own neighborhood for crime, Oliver Davis isn’t your average kid.
In October 2017, Oliver and his friend, Morea, decided to say a huge “thank you” to the officers in their community.
With the help of Oliver’s mother, Brandi, the kids set up a doughnut and lemonade stand in the Davis’s front yard.
Brandi advertised the stand by posting an adorable video featuring the crime-fighting duo on Facebook.
These kids aren’t camera-shy, either. They even pose together with doughnuts in front of their eyes, making the video impossible to ignore.
Still, they had no idea if anyone would show up on October 13. They were ready, though. And boy, did they get a huge surprise.
On the day the stand opened, around 100 officers came calling. The officers came from all over, not just from the local station.
They traveled from across two states, in fact. The officers were more than happy to accept Oliver and Morea’s gift of thanks.
“We want to say thank you to all the police officers,” Oliver and Morea said in the video. Oliver added, “You can’t beat a free doughnut.”
Never was a truer statement made. For this 6-year-old, police officers mean more to him than superheroes.
“I don’t need Spider-Man, Superman [or] Batman,” the aspiring officer said in an interview. “I need these guys.”
I’d say Oliver and Morea are superheroes of their own. No doubt the force will be glad to welcome them when they’re old enough.
