Flashback: Obama Lie Caught on Camera... Claimed to Never Talk to FBI About Investigations

Share

When it comes to the Strzok-Page texts, the hits just keep on coming. And this time, it’s former President Obama who’s taking the hit.

A newly released set of texts between the Tristan and Isolde of the FBI, disclosed to the public Wednesday, seem to reveal that the Obama administration wanted to stay informed on certain investigations even after the president insisted he wasn’t doing that.

Why is that important? It reveals that the president was lying through his teeth during a 2016 interview in which he perhaps received his toughest grilling on whether he had his fingers in the FBI’s multifarious Clinton-related pies.

First, the texts. According to Fox News, the text exchange in question is from Sept. 2, 2016 — several months after James Comey had officially pronounced Hillary Clinton clean as a whistle.

“Checkout my 9:30 mtg on the 7th,” Strzok texted Page.

“I can tell you why you’re having that meeting. It’s not what you think,” Page responded.

“TPs (talking points) for D (Comey)?” Strzok queried back.

“Yes, bc potus wants to know everything we are doing,” Page answered.

POTUS, for those of you who educated through Common Core, is President of the United States — in other words, Barack Obama. This means, unless there’s some insane, next-level sarcasm at work here, that’s essentially confirmation that the president was receiving briefings regarding ongoing FBI investigations.

Do you think Barack Obama was briefed on the Hillary Clinton email investigation?

The most high-level FBI investigation Mr. Strzok was working on was his position leading the Hillary Clinton email probe. It doesn’t take a whole lot of imagination for one to do the math as to what might have come up, especially when talking points were involved.

Whatever the president was being briefed on, it still means he was lying earlier that year during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace.

Wallace’s line of questioning began with the particulars of the information that passed through Hillary Clinton’s private email account, including tons of emails with classified information, 22 of which were top secret. “Can you still say flatly that she did not jeopardize America’s secrets?” Wallace asked.

“I’ve got to be careful because, as you know, there have been investigations, there are hearings, Congress is looking at this. And I haven’t been sorting through each and every aspect of this,” the former president said. “Here’s what I know: Hillary Clinton was an outstanding Secretary of State. She would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy.”

When Wallace asked if he could “guarantee to the American people, can you direct the Justice Department to say, ‘Hillary Clinton will be treated — as the evidence goes, she will not be in any way protected,'” Obama was more forthright about the fact that he didn’t interfere in any FBI investigation.

“I can guarantee that. And I can guarantee that, not because I give Attorney General Lynch a directive, that is institutionally how we have always operated,” Obama said. “I do not talk to the Attorney General about pending investigations. I do not talk to FBI directors about pending investigations. We have a strict line, and always have maintained it, previous precedent.”

Really now.

I am sure someone who was with the Obama White House will offer a very plausible explanation for this. He was just getting briefed by Comey on a matter that just so happened to involve the man who was most recently seen in charge of the Hillary case. It had nothing to do with talking about pending investigations, they’ll superciliously note, probably with a little sigh to emphasize just how much they regret having to deal with such silly questions.

The more we know, the more we realize that the administration was kept abreast of the Hillary investigation by a partisanship-tainted FBI bureaucracy that wanted to make sure Hillary was our next president — or at the very least, that Donald Trump wasn’t. A lie is a lie, no matter how much verbal and logical gymnastics are done in its service.

Nothing can happen to Obama because of this lie, mind you. The same can’t be said for Strzok and Page — and with this coming right on top of the FISA memo, their lives are going to get a lot more complicated.
