As a double standard, it borders on unbelievable.
In the same week that one female comedian’s hit television show was canceled because of a vile public attack on a liberal heroine, another female comedian is being honored by the television industry after making an even more vile attack on first daughter Ivanka Trump.
And the show rolls on.
Most of the Western world knows by now that ABC pulled the plug on Roseanne Barr’s hit show “Roseanne” over the insult she tweeted about Valerie Jarrett, former senior adviser in the Barack Obama White House.
On Wednesday night, late-night TBS “comic” Samantha Bee — one of the most revolting figures on television today — voiced a vicious slur against Ivanka Trump, calling President Donald Trump’s elder daughter a “feckless c—” and implying that she is in a sexually incestuous relationship with the president.
So, Bee’s going to be in hot water too, right?
Not quite. Instead, she’s scheduled to be honored Thursday by the Television Academy as being among “seven outstanding programs that have leveraged the dynamic power of television to inspire social change.”
On Twitter, conservative commentator James Hirsen nailed the jarring juxtaposition.
Bee’s attack on Ivanka Trump came at the end of a monologue criticizing the separation of illegal alien families who are caught trying to enter the country.
Like many liberals, she criticized an Ivanka Trump Twitter post from Sunday that showed Trump with her 2-year-old son. But unlike the others, Bee used a platform on national television to attack Ivanka in the most vulgar possible terms.

“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c—!”
“He listens to you,” Bee continued. “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f—ing stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?”
Compared to that, Barr’s tweet is positively tame.
To be fair, the Television Academy award for Bee was announced before her show aired Wednesday, and the decision must have been made well before that, but that doesn’t reduce the irony of the announcement itself, which saluted Bee for speaking out on “women’s issues”?
“With a female host at the helm and a staff dedicated to speaking out against social injustices, ‘Full Frontal’ found itself in the unique position to deliver commentary on sexual harassment and the #MeToo movement in a truthful and passionate way.”
That’s some “commentary on sexual harassment and the #MeToo movement.” Bee just insulted one of the most famous women in America by calling her the most degrading name for women in the English language, then advising her to dress up sexually to seduce appeal to her own father.
Barr is being driven into exile for racism. Bee is being honored after engaging in the basest form of sexism.
The #MeToo movement has come a long way, baby.
At the White House on Thursday, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called the media’s response to Bee’s attack “appalling.”
“The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders said, according to The Wrap.
“Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”
But Sanders is selling the liberals short. Bee isn’t just being condoned, she’s being honored by the same industry that less than 48 hours earlier was vilifying another comedian for remarks that were no more vile than Bee’s.
The only difference between them is their political targets … and the unbelievable double standard.
