Visiting Attorney Saw Epstein Meeting Privately with Young Woman at MCC
Only a day after being removed from suicide watch, alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was reportedly meeting with at least one young woman inside a special room at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
The sight was so shocking, it stuck in the head of a visiting attorney.
“The optics were startling. Because she was young. And pretty,” the anonymous lawyer told Forbes.
He said the pair met for at least two hours.
The room where Epstein and the mystery woman met is part of a private area set aside for clients and their lawyers. Handcuffs are allowed off and the room has a locking door.
The visit raised several red flags for the visiting attorney. The woman wasn’t one of the named lawyers who visited Epstein, and she certainly wasn’t his main lawyer.
She was also wearing more casual clothes than would be expected from a professional, especially one for a rich client like Epstein.
On top of that, the attorney didn’t see the woman carrying any files or folders.
Although he doesn’t think the woman was there for any malicious reason, the visiting lawyer said that doesn’t mean Epstein isn’t gaming the system.
“I think she was there just to babysit him, and keep him out of his cell, and just keep him company for eight hours a day,” the attorney said. “Which is not supposed to be the way it works.”
If this was the case, it wouldn’t be the first time Epstein tried to pull a trick like that.
As NBC reports, the disgraced financier paid his attorneys for lengthy meetings in the private rooms, allowing him a break from his cramped prison cell.
With hundreds of millions of dollars at his disposal, this kind of scheme would have been well within Epstein’s means.
The question, however, isn’t how Epstein financed these meetings, but why the supposed abuse happened in the first place.
According to the attorney, the private rooms are also used by court-appointed lawyers and the defendants they represent. While the rooms are occupied, the lawyers (paid by the hour with taxpayer money) must wait for them to become available.
“That’s just taxpayers dollars ticking off the clock,” the attorney said.
